capoeira espaco

So I intruded on a chat Compromisso was having today where he was talking about making ANOTHER capoeira espaco but for angolieros. I said BOOOO. As did Maritaca. Just makes another networking sight out there.

Plus this sight is meant for capoeiristas....angola, regional, contemporary, teken...

So what are ur ideas to help promote espaco to be more angola friendly?

My first thought was have the colors be yellow/black. But that would require redoing the whole sight. BOO

Second idea would be to create multiple Capo Espaco logos with various silouhettes of things. Now its 2 players back to back. I suggest very distinct movement logos. Like chamadas and ladainha/bataria and such to represent angola and like amazonas/au batido or the M Barrao Ponteira w Vingativa move.

Further more the angola logos could be in yellow/black to make them more distinct.

Clearly the submittion of the angola logos should be used to advertise on angola sights hehe. Propaganda never hurts right ;-)

What are ur ideas?

To me a capoeira site means all aspect of capoeira, including maculele.. I studied angola for about 5 years, and contemporary for about 3 years. It should all be on one site, we all are family(angola, regional, and contemporary)Just add an angola page to the existing site

why not? it's about being inclusive not exclusive, no?

My capoeira group trains regional as well as angola, so I'm for keeping it all in the family. Distinctive logos would be a great idea for those wishing to distinguish themselves as a certain style. But then what about some of us that do more than one?

i enjoy capoeira period. I play capoeira period.
the site says capoeira... not regional, muidinho or angola. if people want to join, they will. if they don't, they don't.

thank you soo much guys for the feedback I will defently consider everything you have to say. most importantly killing the idea of two networks, thank you soo much for smacking my around abit. You guys are totally right, the site does not say regional or angola, just capoeira. . .and its open to all capoeira! Thank you once again,
as far as changing the logo is concerned. . .well I really like the logo and dont have time to make others, but will consider for the future. In the meantime I did make a couple changes like merging all the blogs into one, so I hope that helps.

Keep the feedback\comments coming!

muito axe,

I love C.Angola (what´s more, i invited Mestre Cabello to give a workshop in my city on march, it´s going to be the first capoeira angola workshop given here in more than seven years, ad i´m contemporary) And i would love it much more if things like this didn´t happened. I wan´t to thank Compromisso for thinking things twice after the feedback.

Wow, look at the unity this site has created thus far and even more so in this conversation. Everyone has made the same opinion. I think the answers are all here and things should remain just the way they are.

Big ups Compromisso, you have brought the capoeira worlds together. Bravo..!

hey...an instructor once told me:

"It doesn't matter if you have one berimbau, 2 berimbau... As long as you playing capoeira is all good!!"

So kudos that this network is a universal capoeira network!

I too feel that this site should remain Capoeira Espaco (is that the question?).
Sorry I jumped in pretty late in the game.

Capoeira IS Capoeira. I don't want to see the art form turned into some political beast where we as a family of capoeista argue about what capoeira is or is not.

i would have to say that this is one of the things that disturbed me about the Women's Conference in D.C. - when tryin' to decide on a name for the women's capoeira site. They, too me, decided to exclude themselves by wanting to have it be angoliera. i dunno... i mean, i know it was a FICA event. but i thought the idea was to unite women, to empower women in capoeira -- all aspects of capoeira!

I think what has happened, or what happens, is that our society (United States Society) is facinated by the flashy, quick, instant success of things. And you get this in Regional/ Contemporanea Capoeira (the flips and acrobatic aspect). So you have a bigger following, bigger classes, bigger everything.

I feel that Angola is more deeply rooted to it's origins in Africa (more sacred - hence the name Capoeira Angola) and mestres and professors teach this in accordance to how they feel the art form should be kept. kinda secretively. being VERY discrete about how the art form is passed down, and shared, exposed. So you don't/ won't get a lot of angoleiros speaking out. i mean this goes as deep as the cordao system, even the differences in the way we dress. Regional/ Contemporanea you have the belt system, the abadas, etc. In Angola, you might not even know someone is an angoleiro by the way they dress.

And then, even with all this, when we get into the roda, it's about communication! Can we talk the same language, can we find a common ground to communicate on. and I have found that communication is fun! it's exciting, maybe something in we can share, somethings we can agree to disagree on. 'Cause in the end, we are all still one family!
