I just wanted to reach out to you all and let you know that I just finished making a full length film documenting a big week-long international capoeira event last year in Brazil that had over 800 participants from 16 countries!
This film is the culmination of an almost year-long project, and after a trip to Brazil to shoot the event, a lot of our own money, 48 hours of footage (yikes!), months and months of post-production, blood, sweat, and tears, my co-producers, Prof. Chin (Santa Barbara), Espirro (LA), and I are done, and the DVD is here!
Through interviews, montages, and a ton of capoeira, this film tells the story of the history of our mestre, Mestre Railson, Capoeira Sul da Bahia, and this crazy event. It is full of incredible footage, and with good editing, original music, and high overall production value, this is higher quality than 95% of the junky capoeira DVDs out there (and you know what I'm talking about).

Capoeira, a unique Brazilian art that incorporates self defense, music, and dance, began with African slaves and has spread around the world. This film captures the axé (energy) that brought 800 participants from 16 countries to the town of Arraial d'Ajuda, Bahia, Brazil. Capoeira Sul da Bahia - 3rd International Encounter 2007 is packed with over 90 minutes of capoeira action. There are also interviews with Capoeira Sul da Bahia's founder, Mestre Railson, his mestre and founder of Capoeira Gerais, Mestre Mão Branca, and Mestres Bocão, and Antônio Dias.
This DVD shows the best rodas from the week long event (including a women's roda), formation of 4 Contra Mestres and many Professors, Instructors, and Monitors. It has original music, and tells the story of Capoeira Sul da Bahia and Mestre Railson.
