Fundraising for Grand Master No

As many of you know Mestre No of Capoeira Angola Palmares was denied entry to the USA this year after many many years of devoting time the development of Capoeira in the US. While this situation was disappointing to many of us both within and without his group, it is a mixed blessing becuase now Mestre No can devote his boundless energy to re-building his own academy in Salvador. Now when people go to Salvador and wish to train with Mestre No there will be a place to do so. In support of this goal myself and Soneca have made a beautiful t-shirt to help raise funds for this cause. We will be unveiling the shirts at the NJ Capoeira Liberdade event of Mestre Cigano and also at the Capoeira Gueirreiros event of Professor Gaivota this saturday. Many of us have been touched by Mestre No and stand to gain alot with the construction of this academy. If you care about capoeira and supporting the "old guard", please feel free to demonstrate this with a shirt. Once the tees have been debuted I will attach a graphic of the design on this site with info on how to order some for your group. AXE- Professora Papaya

I was very disappointed when I heard Mestre No was denied entry since his workshop at the CAQ batizado was what i was really looking forward to. We're having workshops this Friday partially for the benefit and support of Mestre No.

Also it's great that you will be selling it outside the batizado, since only a few of the students from CAQ will be able to make the Liberdade batizado.

I will forward this info to Mestre Ombrinho and the rest of Capoeira Angola Quintal. Mestre will be over the moon to hear this :)

Hey Papaya..

We had our holiday roda this weekend. And a few of us showed up with our Mestre No tee... Lets say that the tee attracted so much attention, people were asking left and right where we got it from.

Suggestion: can you guys make a website or something, so people outside of NYC can purchase the tee?

i talk with other students of capoeira groups all around my place, and a lot are interested in buying this tshirt..
the only problem is that we're located in...france :)

is it possible for you to sell/send tshirts out of usa ?

A website was sort of the next step, but we haven't gotten there yet. I'm not great with that stuff, so I need to rely on others for help. Right now, if people are interested (especially if they are around NY) they can email me at [e-mail]. Or one person can take a list of the folks who want the shirt and sizes and I can come to a roda or class after speaking with the group's mestre. Would you let people know to email me? Or maybe put together an order that I can deliver? Thanks for staying interested and for wearing the shirt.....hope to see you soon.
