capoeira espaco

Just a general question. I believe that my capoeira is about the fight. Im not saying that it's the only side to it because it can and has been many things to many people but for me, it's a fighting art first and foremost and heaven help the person that forgets that.

For me, capoeira isnt about the fight. Its about the zen of the mind game. I love trying to analyze and take apart someone's game and predict their outcome. The metagame within the game so to say. When i find someone that I can "zen" with, predict their moves and understand their motivation for their actions, it gives me a feeling of freedom because Im willing to do more daring moves and play closer and more dangerously. This is what i play capoeira for. That feeling of freedom, and satisfaction of making a correct prediction. Of course, its still a mind game, and i could easily make a mistake and pay dearly...but hey...thats capoeira. ;)

I came to Capoeira for the "fight." I wanted to learn a martial art. But then the music just captivated me; and then the philosophy; and then the feeling of the roda. I think now the most important for me is the attitude of Capoeira. The energia, axe.

capoeira is a game where you can express your feelings, using the language of the body via the capoeira language. Violently or friendly

To fight while playing, and play while fighting, and dance around you while doing so, smiling the whole time and having fun. I'm very much interested in the fight aspect, but capoeira is so much more. All aspects must be present, thus capoeira embodies them all. Though all doesn't need to be favored, they can't be ignored. To ignore one part is to ignore what capoeira is. This is my opinion.

Capoeira came to me without a Name, i never knew what it was at all.
Unknowingly a friend introduced it to me with her know nothing at all.
So i went into the game with me not knowing its name but the rhythm .
Without the rhythm there will be no King, there will be no Roda, there will be no Capoeira.

Capoeira is a Culture whom my teacher always reminds us about in almost every time,
A philosophy maybe, not just a game/art, but/and/or a lifestyle if you will it.
Most will know what it is, for those who doesn't it's call something.
Even though the idea is of yesteryear, but the world is not a Venus yet.

Agua de beber, camaran ;D

Well I started capoeira when I was young. Made many breaks and restarted now.
If you would have asked me 10 years ago, I would have said maybe for the crazy movements, fight etc.

Today my answer would look like this.

Capoeira is an instrument to find yourself, your inner being. The roda the place you can let that inner being out.
Each person has a very own way of expression, of movement, of everything. We are unique. I can't tell you yet
what my capoeira is, the way is long to find yor inner self, but for me it is the friend who accompanies me on the road...
Sometimes a friend, sometimes an enemy...

Heh, hope it is understandable, since I need to improve my english.

Abraço,
Bruno
