NEW YORK CAPOEIRA CENTER will be the new name of our studio where we will offer Capoeira classes (as CAQ), Brazilian Dance with Meredith, Drumming with Master Drummer John Amira, and more!
New classes start Saturday, Oct. 4th:
Brazilian Dance with Meredith 2:30 - 4:00PM
Capoeira (all levels) with Instrutor Elastico 4:00 - 5:30PM
Cuban, Haitian, and Brazilian Drumming with Master Drummer John Amira 6:00 - 7:15PM
CAQ CHILDREN'S CAPOEIRA CLASSES start Friday, Oct. 3rd 5:00 - 6:00PM.
Join us for our first class and orientation and meet our young capoeira brothers and sisters. Arrive at 5:30PM, get dressed and lets show the children and their parents who we are, and how we play capoeira!
CAQ TESTING AND EVALUATION will be happening during the last week of September. All students who have a consistent attendance of 2 classes per week, and 2 rodas (Fridays and/or Sunday rodas) per month. You will be evaluated on the 7 criterion for CAQ evaluation:
attendance/follow CAQ guidelines/Seja um bom exemplo/Routine/Sequences/Music/Jogo/attends events (CAQ end of month roda included)
ROUTINE: Be ready to do and say all 10 movements of the routine
SEQUENCES: Be ready with a partner to do sequences 1 - 5 in order, each one following the previous one, w/o stopping.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL CAQ NYC FOR YOUR NEW CORDÃO!! Especially for Caiman, who got promoted to "Monitor" and also to Ariranha, Carneiro and Armadura, who got promoted to "Instructor"
Also thank you for all of you who came to the Festival Week and the Batizado! We couldn't have done it with your support!

As some of you know, unfortunately Mestre No will not be joining us at this year's batizado. However let's still be positive and keep out axé up! Let's all work together and make this year's Capoeira Festival Week and Batizado a fantastic one!! :)

LADIES: you know we are crazy and we love to dance (as all the CAQ NY nods)...let's SAMBA! Meredith is gonna just teach us basic samba today at 3 at the academy. Fellas' you guys are welcome to join in too! If it all goes well...we can just do this as an extra thing, before or after class.. :) SAMBA DE RODA!!!

Bring a pen and notebook. Handouts will be provided... He'll be covering topics from basic Portuguese to song lyrics, pop expressions, slang and more. :) More details to come... Be on the lookout for flyers soon!
