I started capoeira just over two years ago at age 48 and nearly 200 lbs. Last spring I decided that capoeira was getting too difficult for me and looked into alternatives like tai chi. I was in denial about my weight and how it was affecting my health - in my mind, it was all due to my age which I could not control. Last June, with the help of my husband (and Weight Watchers ;-) ), I am now down to 140 and looking forward to my 3rd batizado. My husband has also lost about 60 lbs. We both have a new lease on life. He does serious backpacking. Along with capoeira, I ride horses about once a week and we both power walk regularly. Don't ever give up on yourself - think positively. I will never be out there doing florieos - I am just barely able to do negativa sometimes and forget au - but I am a happier, healthier capoeirista! Thanks for all your support!
