Capoeira Apelido and its meaning/explanation:

Chamada: We had been training Capoeira Angola all week. The following Saturday in the roda I decided to call a chamada. I assumed the position only to realize that the toque that was playing was not Angola. But I decided to go with it, enticing my partner in the roda to join me in a little salsa-chamada. Mestre Muriel could barely sing he was laughing so hard. Like they always say, do something embarassing and you will get a nickname!

About Me:

I'm a newcomer to capoeira, but it has already absolutely consumed and transformed my life. When I am not training I am constantly thinking about capoeira...listening to music, studying Portuguese, watching you tube videos or reading capoeira blogs. I am so happy to train under Contra Mestre Muriel Ribeiro. I visited Brazil in November 2008 where I trained in Metsre Suassuna's academy. I returned again in January 2009 to Salvador and again to Rio and Sao Paulo in June 2009 for more training with Contra Mestre Coruja. I am looking forward to going to Capoeirando 2010!
