Of course Foca knows the lyrics, he gave them to us! :) I wanted a recording at home so I can get the first verse in my head, already got the rest down.
Okay. So I suggest you add and/or email Mestre Papiba on facebook.com or ask Foca to email it to you. I am pretty sure he knows the lyrics to that song.

Thanks for your message. I cannot believe I'm almost within the 2 week window of my trip! I am very excited, and a little nervous at times too. My biggest worry is getting my research visa. - Jasmim: I love henna and was named for a floral/vine -like henna tattoo I had on my feet. Also, me saying the name makes me smile, and I certainly giggle and laugh alot, especially in capoeira class! Also my hair is a mass of curly tendrils like vines.
Once, during a particularly challenging class, I claimed to be a "delicate flower" as an excuse for lack of energy. My teacher doesn't take any excuses (but really, does any capoeria teacher?). He started off about how, "Jasmim is a very strong flower! It grows in cold temperature, in hot temperature, in the city, in the country. A very strong flower!" Then more recently I found out: Brazilian Jasmine is listed on the "Invasive Plant" list for Florida. Here's the listing: "Ecological threat: An aggressive, troublesome, difficult-to-control weed; can climb high into the tree canopy of mature forests, completely enshrouding native vegetation and reducing native plant diversity. Has vigorously invaded intact, undisturbed hardwood forests in south Florida."
Of course I prefer to think of myself as climbing up into people's hearts... ;) But I very much like the fact it's a "strong flower," a beautiful, thriving flower...I like to think that's not only my capoeira alter-ego, but that's me as well.

- I just finished my year-long yoga teacher training and am headed out into the world to spread the word! I'm still all about capoeira , too, though! They are the two pillars of my life, and if I could bring them together, that just be a little slice of heaven!
My capoeira training began Sept. 07 and I was surprised and honored with a gold cord (2nd level) at my first Batizado this last Fall. It's been a few months since then and I'm still amazed and proud all over again every time I put that cord on.

Homecoming
After 6 long months of recovery in Brazil from an ACL repair, my teacher, our Contra-Mestre, is back at our Brooklyn studio. I knew I missed him, but I didn't realize just how much until I saw him playing again, singing again, teaching again.

The Discovery
I started capoeira in September of this year. It had already been a long year of illness, disappointments, and unemployment. I hadn't been to the gym in months partly because I didn't feel well and partly because of dreading those boring cardio machines in the over-heated, over-hyped, unfriendly Crunch.
