I haven't told you guys about Samurai yet, huh? He runs the Stonybrook group. I think he's a little disappointed in me since I mentioned I've been to Capoeira Angola. Must not have occurred that just because you're there doesn't mean you're learning from the Mestre. He has advanced students to teach. I learned from more advanced students who'd hop out of the roda and teach the newbies. Plus I only wound up goin' twice.
Back to Samurai, he's got the whole regionale thing going. You know

This Thursday I join my first real capoeira group. Capoeira Angola doesn't really count for this as I was never really a member due to difficulties with transportation. For someone like me who's been doing things solo for such a long time, this is incredible.
Capoeira's about interaction. Alone there's only so much you can do. I'm going to try and enjoy today and tomorrow because I know that when Thursday swings by I'm going to be practicing like a fiend. Pray for my knees.

What we do at Stonybrook is more like one of those Angola/Regionale hybrids, but Samurai has a real Regionale attitude. Y'know, "I eat a bowl of gravel every day for breakfast and then I fight a bear."
And me skin tone is open to interpretation. That picture was taken in the summer, though, so I was tanner than I am most of the year,
