I'm almost through reading a book I picked up just 3 days ago.
Capoeira: Roots of the Dance-Fight-Game was written by Nestor Capoeira. It is number two in a series of three books. I'll be picking the other two up over the next couple of months.
This is really an excellent book that covers the history and philosophies behind Capoeira. It has opinions not just of the author, but of other well known Capoeiristas to include words of both Mestre Bimba and Mestre Pastihna. Both Angola and Regional styles are discussed as well as the impact they have had over the past century. It is written very well and the translation into English seems to work just fine. I was able to easily understand what the author wanted to get across.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to further their knowledge in the histories and legends of Capoeira as well as those just looking for a relevant, well written read.
Axe' and God bless!
