Take me to where the Berimbau plays! Let me sing and dance and play the game!
Let me into the roda so I may take my turn
Shake hands and smile as we teach and learn.
OH Capoeira you've infested my soul
OH Capoeira you made me love you so.
Release from my heart all anger and hate
As I play the game with my friends today.
Let God guide my actions and push me through,
So that I may one day become a mestre too!
I'm here to be taught about the meaning of life,
Live, laugh, and love all day and all night.
Our friends and companions gather round us and cheer,
The Axe' is so vibrant and my mind is so clear!
It has called me to come and take flight from my cares,
Oh Capoeira, Capoeira bring me joy for all my years
The Berimbau plays "djing-djing dong-dong",
While the Atabaque pounds with it's rhythmic song
The Pandiero chimes out among the chorus of sound,
While the roda claps out adding Axe' to the crowd.
We can't really explain it, nor give it directly to you,
It's something you feel when the feeling is true.
It's a love and a passion stemming deep from within,
No one can have it without their family or friends.
Capoeira is a family very strong and vast,
It has ties deeply rooted in lives that have passed.
Honor and commitment run hand in hand,
As well as a love for your fellow man.
The game is a symbol of how we should live,
Facing each other with a smile, without fear,
Surrounded by family and supporting our friends,
Playing hard, playing well, till the very end.
So goodnight all my brothers, farewell my fair dames,
Rest easy and deep, so we may once again play!
