Oi, Abuelo... (And if you prefer English, I can converse with you in English, too.)
Just came back from San Luis Potosí, we had a reakky cool workshop with instructor Cocada, from Capoeira Malandragem, UCA. Axé, maybe later i´ll get some photos here.

Hi, I have been practicing capoeira for a little more than 10 years, this year is my Formatura as a capoeira professor. I belong to what i call "an independent" group, meaning that we don´t belong to any brazilian goup, but we have managed to keep a very close relaitonship with two great mestres who have been coming to our batizados for the last six years; Mestre Acordeón and Mestre Suassuna, we also invite regularly professores, contramestres, and mestres from Cordao the Ouro, the United Capoeira Association, and other bigger groups than us to keep a close bond to Brazil, and learn from different styles, we also travel to Brazil with our students every time we can.
They call me "El Abuelo" (not Avô, but "abuelo" in spanish) because capoeira has little more than 10 years in México, so I belong to the first generation of mexican capoeiras. Since the first image of capoeira that people get is usually of a very fisicaly demanding and exotic activity, must capoeristas in México are around their 20´s or younger, and i´m 39 years old, so to this young people i look like a complete antique.
Must brazilians find it funny my people concsider me an "old" capoerista, after all i´m only 10 years old in the art and i´m not of old age yet (in Brazil an old capoerista is someone in his 70`s), but i like the name because it was chosen by my own people, and i do behave like an Abuelo sometimes, experiencing capoeira in a more planning, researching, calculating way in my everyday life than must "training/jogo oriented" younger capoeiras here.
